On Sunday, April 27, ten Penrose students had the opportunity to attend the 2025 Modern Salon Independent Boot Camp in Scottsdale. The full-day event brought together students, beauty professionals, and industry leaders from across the country for a packed schedule of learning, networking, and inspiration.
Penrose received 10 student tickets from Modern Salon, and we selected participants based on their strong performance, professionalism, and commitment to their education. They made the most of the day—connecting with leaders, gaining insights, and engaging with new ideas.
Highlights included a session on client retention with Kelly Westbrook from MY SALON Suite and a live color analysis demo by Lillian Lavette Freeland. Penrose alum Jalia Pettis, a finalist for NAHA Educator of the Year, gave a standout talk on branding vs. marketing. Students attended a panel on professional boundaries and a discussion on specialization in the beauty industry, featuring leaders like Ky Smith and Priscilla Valles.
One of the most exciting moments? Four Penrose students were selected as giveaway winners—two received scholarships from MY SALON Suite, and two others won product baskets from Salon Centric.
We’re proud of how our students represented Penrose: Tanya, Madison, Kate, Camlyn, Chloe, Grace, Madisyn, Maeleigh, Brooklyn, and Nicole. They came back with fresh perspectives, helpful takeaways, and a stronger sense of what’s possible in their careers.
