The holidays are here and with that comes a new year! 2019 was a such a fun year for Penrose Academy and we are so excited to see what 2020 has to offer. Here is a recap of the wonderful year we had.
Throughout the year we have had 30 new start dates between Cosmetology, Hair, Esthetics, Nails, and Laser. We love having new faces in the building and seeing them grow through their programs. 4 Graduations happened this year, with just about 320 students graduating!
During 34 assemblies we held this year, we were able to connect and expand our culture with weekly celebrations, fun energizers, alum panels, business education and student council elections. We also had a wide range of speakers join us. Some notable ones include: Davines Guest Artisit – Michael Polsinelli, Joico Guest Artist – Cherry Petenbrink, Basset Owner – Ward Bassest, Salon Services Owner – Sydney Berry, Aqua Hair Extensions Brand Manager – Amber Derr, Canvas Recruit Creators – Jen & Matt Martinelli, Hanzo Guest Stylist -Sami Sue and PMTS Cleveland Owner – Necole Cumberlander to name a few! We had so many gifted people share their stories with our students, each of them sharing a unique insight into the industry and inspiring our students.
Wander + Wonder has to be one of our favorite traditions at Penrose Academy. This year our two themes were “Fashion week” and “Halloween.” They are a great opportunity for our students to showcase their talents to all their friends and family.
There was so much Penrose did this year from Study abroad in London and Paris, to joining Phoenix Children’s Hospital for their end of the year dance. Each giving students an experience they might not otherwise experience. Those are memories that will last forever.
As always, our leader Jill has spent the year lobbying for post-secondary education. She continuously meeting with representatives of the state, and local salons to see how we can better the beauty industry.
